Andrene Jones-Castro is a PhD student in the Department of Educational Administration at The University of Texas at Austin. Andrene’s developing research interests include teacher education/certification, community schools, and transnational and comparative thought in education.
Andrene began her career in education working as a secondary English-Language Arts educator in Miami Dade County Schools and Miami Dade College. Her nine years of classroom experience and teacher mentoring has been critical to shaping her interests in educational policy.
Andrene has earned a M.S. degree in Urban Education and a graduate certificate in African Diaspora Studies from Florida International University. She also has a B.S. in English Education from University of South Florida.
