Justin Samuel holds a B.S. in Human Development and Family Sciences from The University of Texas at Austin and an M.A. in Higher Education and Student Affairs from The Ohio State University. Originally from Sugar Land, Texas, (near Houston), his current professional role is in Residence Life (Division of Housing and Food Service) within the Division of Student Affairs at The University of Texas at Austin. An award-winning presenter both locally and nationally, Justin has spoken on topics related to identity, personality, and leadership. He won SWACUHO Top Program Awards in both 2013 and 2014, as well as the Meyers Medallion for the highest rated session at the 2013 UT Arlington Leadership Retreat. As a student affairs professional, Justin received Ohio State’s Emerging Professional Award in 2015 and UT Austin’s Hall Coordinator of the Year Award in 2016.
Justin is currently a Ph.D. student in the Program in Higher Education Leadership in the Department of Educational Administration. His research interests include South Asian American college student identity development, diversity training efficacy for student leaders, and work/life balance for student affairs administrators. His hobbies include photography, public speaking, foreign films, and travel.
